I'm always on the lookout for free stuff. You'd be surprised what I'd do for free stuff :-). One thing in particular I'm always keeping an eye out for is money.
I was inspired to start keeping a log of money that I've found or won. And it has to be money in a form that's widely-accepted and usable on a day-to-day basis. Scholarships and gift certificates don't count, but debit cards and checks do count. And of course any bills or change lying on the ground count. Also, job earnings are invalid, and speaking of which, I should get one ^^;; (Job gotten 16-Aug-07.). Oh, and allowances don't count either.
Basically, I'm including any money I've accumulated that I haven't had to work for. I count money I win from competitions because, by nature, I enjoy competition, and I don't consider that work. Of course, even if I had a job I absolutely loved and didn't consider work, I still wouldn't count that.
Edit - May 18, 2008: I'm now only considering money I find or work minimally for (e.g.: October 4 entry). I removed the money won from the 2007 Seton Hall Math Competition.
Edit (4/15/2011): I have decided not to count any entries for which I had to do something to obtain the money (e.g.: taking a survey). I have also uncounted entries where someone gave me money (like their leftover change), unless it was money they just found. This page now reflects the original intent - keeping track of all money I find lying around. Just for historical records, I have kept all entries, but those that I have disqualified I have set to $0.00.
