It was time to announce the prom king. My date was the prom queen. I was so excited.
"You will win king," said Julie.
"I hope," said Mike.
"You will be right next to me on the stage," said Julie.
"That’s my dream," said Mike.
"It will come true," said Julie.
"I feel so nervous," said Mike.
Mike, my date, looked so nervous.
Then it came, and I didn’t win. My worst enemy won, and I was so upset. There was a tradition that the king had to dance with the queen, and I was so scared I was going to lose Julie. He liked her, and I didn’t know what to do.
Then I became so happy because there was a mistake, and I was named the king.
I accepted my award gracefully with Julie. She and I were so happy for a while. Unfortunately, she broke up with me, but that moment shines on me now, and it will for the rest of my life. I think she will remember it for a long, long, long time too; at least I hope so. Maybe someday we will go out again.
