I wholeheartedly support Ed Smart, who strongly believes that his daughter was brainwashed into believing that her family did not love her anymore. Elizabeth Smart was found and reunited with her family after nine months of separation. She was observed in Sandy, Utah, wearing sunglasses and a wig along with her captors, Brian David Mitchell and his wife Wanda Batzee. Brian David Mitchell, upon arrest, protested that Elizabeth Smart was his second wife. As you might already know, Utah is a state where bigamy is allowed.
Psychologists believe that Elizabeth Smart was emotionally and physically abused to not run away. Elissa Brown, a child expert at New York University, strongly feels that anything from offending names to threats could have shaken the fourteen year old. “No child wishes for harm to come to the ones she loves,” as quoted by Brown.
Witnesses have claimed that Elizabeth indeed looked very calm and under control only with the company of the Mitchells. The sudden appearance of Elizabeth Smart was a shock to the entire nation, and this shows that miracles do come true.
