Reflective Commentary

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia exceeded my expectations. This composition was based on reminiscing the past. I felt very satisfied after I finished writing it. It seemed like I was back in Nova Scotia, experiencing the wild beauty again.

There was nothing really difficult about writing this composition. I only came upon a few grammatical and technical difficulties, such as writing in past or present tense.

I think the compositions I had written last year were more interesting than this marking periodís. Although the first marking period taught me to restrict my use of linking verbs, I considered the second marking periodís rules to be quite lenient. Alliterations were the only trouble I had this time, since I donít regularly write that way, but they helped me increase my vocabulary immensely.

Nova Scotia showed off my writing abilities and skills very well. It gave me many opportunities to describe its natural surroundings. For example, I wrote that the brilliant tree covered valleys stopped at the feet of the snow-capped mountains. I included many adjectives that gave the reader a sense of image and magic about the place.

I think I have changed my style of writing much differently from last yearís. The first marking periodís rules made writing compositions quite challenging, but now that I am nearing adolescence, I think I am beginning to understand what to include in my essays.

I wish to receive suggestions about my writing from everyone, since they help me improve my writing. Although Nova Scotia was quite satisfying to write and read, I would like some comments on the grammatical and technical format of my lines. I always attempt to keep comments in mind while Iím writing.
