Sunday, August 27 - Monday, August 28
There were two parts. In one part, I remember seeing Batman, and he was jumping up and down all over the place, to impossible heights, easily fifty feet in the air. He was doing cartwheels and flips and stunts. I believe he was putting on some kind of show. In his performance, he had this particularly tricky stunt move, and I felt nervous for him, hoping he wouldn't screw up. He never did.
In the other portion of dream, I was with my mother and brother, and we needed to use the bathroom. We were right by a museum, but in order to use the bathroom, we had to pay to enter the museum. So we snuck inside the museum without paying and we searched for a bathroom. We came to this long red hallway with lots of people and lots of elevators like this:
We finally got on an elevator and went downstairs to use the bathrooms. End of dream.
Wednesday, August 16 - Thursday, August 17
This dream had two parts. One part took place in my house. I was having some sort of party, and I was disappointed that Alan Jiang couldn't come. I remember going down to the basement of my house and falling asleep there. When I awoke, the clock read 9, which was clearly 9 AM based on the sunlight outside. When I climbed up the seven steps out of my basement, I found Aimee Fiorini in my playroom. Around her, all over the furniture and floor, were red jackets like this one -
- except neatly folded somewhat like this:
I don't normally fold clothes as in the above picture, but I recall that in my dream, the collar was straight and centered, and you could see the folded sleeves. I said hi to Aimee, and then I proceeded up the stairs to the main floor of my family's split-level house. I passed by my brother, who said Alan had come. Excited, I rushed upstairs to my room, where I found Alan sitting behind the black table in the center of my room and cubing, surrounded by many onlookers.
The other part of my dream took place in a hotel. I was inside an elevator with a few strangers when the elevator cable snapped. However, rather than falling downwards, the elevator fell upwards. It came to a halt on the second floor, and when the elevator doors opened, there was a dead lady lying on the floor outside the elevator and to the right. I then went with a group of people to try to find a certain hotel room. When we found the room, the door was locked, so somebody used a credit card between the door and the wall to slit the lock. I forget what we found inside the room. I think there were multiple people though, because I recall hearing several voices while outside the room.
That's really it for this dream. Happy sleeping, folks.

Saturday, August 12 - Sunday, August 13
This time around, my dream had five parts, though, again, I can't guarantee the correct sequence. It seems to me that I am just remembering snippets from various dreams throughout the night. They say you dream multiple dreams each night, but usually only remember the last couple. However, I'm not sure if the dream segments described below are from one dream or separate dreams.
Part 1: I was back in Memorial Junior School, in the hallway connecting the 7th grade wing to the 8th grade wing, the one that starts by Ms. West's social studies classroom, passes by the backdoors of the two computer labs, including the one that says "Girl's Gym" on it. Well, I was with the WPHS choir and its choir director, Mr. Limey, in the highlighted section:
I was sitting along the window sill where the blue dot is, and to my left was Max Chang. Together, we represented the bass section. Along the wall where the two backdoors should have been, there were no doors, but instead, there was a piano against the wall and a pianist playing it. We began singing The Lord Bless You and Keep You. Despite the fact that the pianist was playing the accompaniment while emphasizing the bass part, I still could not find the right pitch, nor could I find the right rhythm. At one point I was singing so off-key and tunelessly that Mr. Limey cut us off and pointed at me and asked me what the heck I was doing. I mumbled something about being off-pitch, but Mr. Limey just laughed at me.
Part 2: I was in a white, open, tiled room that reminded me of a kitchen. There was a wooden table in the middle and there were some closet doors against the walls. I was with Alex Szajko and someone else. When we opened one of the closet doors, it revealed a utility room with the electrical switches and a stone floor. On the floor were tens to hundreds of rats running every which way. All of a sudden, both Alex and I were armed with weapons; I believe we had a rocket launcher and an AK47 between us. The objective was to kill as many rats as possible. However, if a rat hit you, you lost many HP. Eventually, the rats that were left scampered off and those that had been slaughtered were a bloody pulp on the floor. We exited the utility room and we closed the door. All I remember was that on the table we had a choice of doing any of several very gruesome tasks. I don't remember exactly what the choice of tasks were, but I just remember they involved bloody things, rotten things, dead things, nightmarish things. I remember that Alex said he didn't want to do one of tasks, but I said I wanted to try everything.
Part 3: I vaguely remember this portion of dream, but I do recall that I visited several houses and there were multiple ladies. I felt like I was the cameraman on an episode of Wife-Swap. I just remember this one house, located on Forest Way (the street I live on), and due to its location on the street, it must have been number 45 or 47. A couple houses down, there was construction work being done on a house, and the lady I was with pointed that house out for some reason. Then, she took me around the back of her house and led me in through the sliding screen door. She led me through the kitchen to the front of the house, and this is what I recall seeing:
I entered the vestibule from the kitchen as indicated by the red arrow. The first thing that struck me as odd was the very low, slanted ceiling. Where we entered, the ceiling was at a reasonable height, but it sloped downwards towards the right side of the room. Where the staircase was, you had to crouch down to climb up the stairs. The double doors with the crisscrosses was the front entrance to the house. I drew crisscrosses on the door to show that it was one of those translucent, glassy doors that let some light through. My host lady led me towards the stairs, but before following her, I took a peek inside the door on the left. What I saw was a staircase leading down to the basement, which, I saw was very bright, white, and carpeted. I then crouched down and followed the lady up the staircase. It was a very short staircase, only about eight steps or so. The staircase ended at a door, so I assumed that this was a separate upstairs section from the main part of the second floor. The lady opened the door to reveal a bedroom with a bed against the wall on the left. I asked her if this was a guest room, and she said it was, but that she also used it as a storage room. I looked around and I saw some boxes stacked up against the walls. At the other side of the room, there was another door. The lady walked to that door and opened it as well. This room was yet another bedroom, except this time the bed was against the wall on the right. In the northwest corner of the room, there was another door that was slightly ajar and revealed a bathroom. That's really all I can remember from this portion of dream.
Part 4: I was back in the hallways of Memorial Junior School. I was walking along the main 6th grade wing corridor, past the main office on my left, towards the front entrance and the 7th grade wing, when I bumped into Mr. Limey, the choir director. I was carrying a copy of Jane Eyre and when Mr. Limey saw it, he gasped, "Oh my God, you can't be serious. You're reading this?" And I'm like, "I just started, but it's a collection of short stories, so I could just skip to the story of Jane Eyre if I really wanted to." Mr. Sciaino happened to be there to witness the scene and he laughed his robust chuckle. Of course, in real life, Jane Eyre is just one complete novel, of which I have not read one word, but in dreamland, strange things can happen.
Part 5: The final segment of dream I remember was very brief. I don't recall the circumstances or where I was, but I was asking someone what was the formula for determining the number of hydrogen (H) atoms in a molecule if you knew the number of sodium (Na) atoms.
From these five scenes of my dream, I have drawn some correlations with my real life and with other dreams. Max Chang, my bass partner in the dream, was in my previous recorded dream as well. However, in real life, he was never in choir, at least not in high school. I have been receiving some e-mails from Mr. Limey concerning the upcoming Madrigals season, and perhaps my anticipation of it caused Mr. Limey and the choir to appear in my dream. Also, the year before, in 2005, at the end of my freshman year, the audition piece for Madrigals was The Lord Bless You and Keep You. I wasn't accepted to Madrigals that year, so perhaps that is why I was singing the song so poorly in my dream. The rat-killing scene reminds me of the rat-killing bonus stage of Theme Hospital, though I haven't played that game in ages. I've actually only watched one episode of Wife Swap in my life, and that was either last week or the week before that. I borrowed Jane Eyre from the library recently, and it is actually the next novel I am planning to read, just as soon as I finish The Joy Luck Club. I was typing up AP Chemistry questions last night, so perhaps that is why I had that portion of dream about hydrogen and sodium atoms. I still don't understand why dreams are so utterly bizarre.

Wednesday, August 9 - Thursday, August 10
They were building a hockey rink in my backyard, except when I looked up the hill at my house, it wasn't my house; it was a hospital-like building, sort of like Whippany Park's two-story section, even. Except it reminded me of a college dormitory due to the even spacing of the windows.
I was with Mark Hansen, and we ran around the building to the back and we saw erected glass walls. We realized Plexiglas had been put up around the rink. There were people actually skating on the rink. We walked along the rink boundary, and we saw the entrance, which had no gate or person guarding it. Two people entered at that opening and one said something like "Oh, yeah!!!"
I talked to Raymond (my brother) about this and he said we could watch free hockey games. I then mentioned that they might put a cover over the top of the stadium. "Dang," Ray said. He was clearly a little disappointed. I then asked him whether any current NHL hockey rinks in existence had no covers. Ray said, "Yes--the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary."
Elsewhere in the dream, I was in my front yard with Jon Lin. My driveway had been completely upturned. It was mostly just a section of fresh dirt. Jon and I were trying to reclaim the area for the driveway and repave it. Jon wanted to plant blueberries, but I wanted to plant peas instead. We got into an argument as to which one was more effective, an argument we couldn't resolve, so we went inside my house to ask my dad. He supported my side - the green peas - and he also gave me a sheet of paper. It was in Chinese, but I could read most of the characters. I began reading it aloud, and I tried to show Jon, but when I did, my dad erupted, yelling that that was not meant for others, that it was private and its information was to stay within our household.
Jon and I left my house then, and when I glanced over at Jon, he showed an expression of slight awe at my father's reaction. I felt the same way myself, thinking how embarrassing it must be to rage out of control in front of one of my friends. We went back to the patch of soil where concrete should have been, and we saw the concrete had already started creeping in, reclaiming its rightful territory. The blueberries and green peas that Jon and I had planted had multiplied many times.
I looked at Jon again, and without a spoken word, both of us knew that my dad had spoken in my favor, so no more blueberries were to be planted on my family's property. However, I suggested that he start planting across the street, so that we could still chat while we planted. I knew it was my neighbor's property across the street, but I pushed that knowledge aside in my mind.
The dream went to the other side of my property, where it intersects with my next-door neighbors - the Bentrovatos. Dan Lin suddenly appeared, and I believe Max Chang was there, too, and they were standing by the small slope that separates our two properties. The slope of mulch and dirt was tarped for some reason.
Dan asked me what would happen if an earthquake happened. Would the slope collapse? I said I wasn't really afraid of the slope collapsing; I was more afraid of the foundation beneath our house collapsing. I took them around the front of my house to our driveway, and I pointed out, near the back of our house, where I thought the weakest point of the foundation was.
A third portion of my dream involved a battle or war of some sort. The village I was protecting needed to find a second river for a source of fresh water. We scoured the forests around the village, and we came across what seemed like a clean river. I took a sip, and indeed, the water did taste very fresh. However, the general in charge said his gut instinct told him this place seemed very suspicious, as if the enemy had already been here. Then, as if we were in a movie, a narrator's voice came up, and said, "The general made a very wise decision. His hunch was correct." The narrator continued and spoke about the future and what happened near this river.
We continued our exploration for another river, and we came to this trail carved out by wear and use that lay in the middle of a grassy meadow. The trail sloped up a hill, and suddenly, I was at the top of the hill, where the eenemy was. The general asked then why they wanted to stay there, because, he said, they were going to get shot at and killed by my village's militia from below. I thought this statement queer, as apparently did the enemy general. Clearly, the enemy had an altitude advantage. The enemy general said his troops were fine where they were.
But in any case, the dream began a simulation of the battle with my village's troops on top of the hill, and with the enemy's troops at the bottom of the hill, on the opposite side from where we had gone up the hill.
There were bullets flying back and forth, and puffs of smoke sprouted up on both sides. However, I did not see any bloodhsed, and so, this scene of my dream quickly ended.
The fourth and final segment of dream I recall occurred in a museum. There was some sort of race that was taking place -- a cross country 5K race within the museum. Shotaro "Macky" Makisumi was there, and my father and I talked to him and his father. I took out my 5x5x5 and practiced some U and U' turns on it.
Macky's dad commented that Macky's 5x5x5 had an X center piece pop out. Macky said this was true, that during the race he had a massive 5x5x5 pop, with many pieces flying everywhere. He said he had found all the pieces except for one X center piece. "Wow," my dad exclaimed.
I had actually run the museum 5K race several times before, and after I talked with Macky, I ran it for a third time:
In the A portion, I met Alex Trebek, and he took me into a room I ran through, and he pointed to a golden arrow put up on the wall. He asked me if I knew what that golden arrow was. I said, "Yes. It was the arrow that slayed the Minotaur." "Very good," responded Alex. "However, the golden arrow doesn't really exist. It's a myth."
Apart from this, in the B section, I actually ran outside the museum, across a wooden bridge suspended between two buildings. I would someitmes see Macky returning on the other side as I headed across it for the first time for each lap (the 5K race involved running this loop several times). In the C section, there were lots of statues and busts of figures, which we ran around.
I don't recall ever finishing the race or crossing a finish line. I am unsure of the order that these four portions of my dream occurred in, but some time during one of them, I woke up.
